The Opioid Crisis : A Mother’s Loss – Documentary Film

When the opioid epidemic tragically befalls a suburban mother, she uses her grief to help others.

“For You, Because of You, and In Memory of You” is a short documentary about Tammy Lofink, a wife and mother of two, who lost her son to a heroin overdose when he was 18 year’s old.

Directed and produced by Richard Yeagley, this documentary recaps Tammy’s journey through her son’s death, the reclaiming of her life, and the birth of Rising Above Addiction, a non-profit organization that helps fund treatment for young adults who suffer from addiction.

My name is Tammy Lofink. I lost my 18-year-old son to an opiate overdose in 2014. As a response to the tragedy, I started Rising Above Addiction, a non-profit that helps fund treatment for young adults who suffer from drug addiction.

To learn more about my journey, please watch this documentary…

Please watch this with sensitivity and understanding. I am letting my world and my wounds be opened up, in hopes that it will help others. The love that I receive, but more importantly, the love that I feel, gives me the courage and strength to share this.

Rising Above Addiction continues to grow because of the generous support we receive through donations and participation. We have been able to put hundreds of people into treatment because of the generosity of so many people. Thank you to everyone!

Together, we can all make a difference.
